It is with heavy hearts that Full On Communications announced the passing of Dr. Jasper (Jake) K. Smith, the firm’s former Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor on April 2, 2021. Jake Smith was a pioneer in public affairs and communication with a long and distinguished international career and played an instrumental role in Full On’s launch and development.
Dr. Smith’s experience in public affairs and communication spanned decades and covered a wide range of topics from African politics to nuclear energy. Prior to Full On, he was President of PSC International, LLC., where he developed and managed public affairs and communication campaigns and projects for corporate, governmental, and political clients, with a focus on African governmental organizations.
As the Associate Dean in the College of Communication at Boston University, he also held a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Public Relations and Mass Communication. He served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean at Mahkota College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Boston University's campus in Asia.
He also worked as an Information Officer for the Oak Ridge Associated Universities where he managed a national public relations program on energy and the environment.
“Jake Smith was more than a colleague, pioneering thinker, and accomplished professional in public affairs and communication, he was insightful, wise, and a strategic thinker. His advice and contributions helped launch Full On Communications and make the firm what it is today,” said Full On CEO Jarret Adams. “As my father-in-law, Jake played a precious role as a mentor and companion, and we enjoyed many adventures together. The Full On team will miss him dearly.”
